Living Alone for the First Time

Ever since I was young, I've always dreamed of living alone and having my own space, with my own cat. I knew that as soon as I graduated high school, I wanted to get my own apartment. Clearly, life took me in another direction.

I am 21 years old and I've never lived on my own - until now. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, I was forced into finding my own place, completely on my own. It was a tough and scary process, but I did it! I am now officially completely moved into my very first apartment alone.

I won't lie - living by myself has been a struggle. It's such an adjustment to go from living with people - especially a significant other, to just being alone. I'm starting to get used to it, though. Sometimes the quiet is peaceful, and I like that I have time to do what I want, but it does get lonely. I've been filling my time with lots of different things. I've been writing, reading, drawing, and playing video games. It's nice to be able to indulge in my hobbies again. And I LOVE having my cat around to hang out with. It makes me feel slightly less lonely.

I think the hardest thing for me is knowing I don’t exactly have many friends (especially not close ones), so I find it more lonely because I don’t have many people that I can make fun plans with. I know there’s plenty of things that I can do by myself, but I would enjoy it much more with people that I love. That’s the worst part. I’m such a people person - well, with the people that i know and love - so I always wanna spend time with them.

All in all, I’ve started to adjust more to the loneliness, and I’ve really just been trying to work on myself and build a happier version of me. I wouldn’t say it’s going perfectly yet, but it’s definitely gotten a little easier.
