How to Escape a Burn Out Episode
Burnouts are the worst. I often find myself in the middle of a horrible and deep burnout episode after being in a state of stress for a long period of time. For example, I've recently been stressed out at work, as well as stressed out with personal things going on in my life. This has caused me to be seriously unmotivated and exhausted. I sometimes don't find joy in doing the things that I usually always look forward to. I hadn't been taking good care of myself like I usually would. I wasn't cooking much, I wasn't reading much, I wasn't doing anything I really love. All I wanted to do was go to bed by 7pm. It's frustrating, but it's something that a lot of people experience.
The one thing I have found to be most helpful with getting rid of burnout is to simply rest. Letting your body relax and getting extra sleep will help so much in building back that energy you have been lacking. Usually, when we experience burnout, it's our body telling us that it needs more rest. As much as I don't like going to sleep super early, I allow myself to do it because I know it will help me in the long run. Your body is your temple. Listen to what it needs and allow yourself to rest when needed.
Even though I don't want to do it, I force myself to write when I am experiencing burnout. Whether it be journaling, or writing a new blog post, I try to force myself to get something written out. It always helps to spark creativity and get my brain working again. I try my best to think of new ideas and just let the words flow. It's hard at first, but it gets easier the more I write. I feel like once I have forced myself to write something, I instantly feel better and more inspired.
I really recommend taking time for a little self-care. I usually get really lazy with taking care of myself when I experience burnout, but I try to force myself to do things for myself. I take care of my skin and shower, but then I try to add a face mask in there as well to make me feel just a little bit better. I always try to put on a comfort show and grab my favorite snack. I curl up in bed and just let myself relax and indulge in the alone time with my favorite things. I feel like self-care is extremely important when it comes to a burnout episode.
If you are experiencing burnout, just breathe and know that the feeling will pass. You will get through this like you've gotten through everything else before. Just relax and don't push yourself too hard. Give your mind and body the rest it needs so you can feel your best. Everything will turn out okay and you will soon feel like yourself again.
